Passover Approaches

What do you do for Passover?

Jesus/Yeshua and his disciples celebrated Passover. We have no reason to believe that the early Church did not celebrate. It wasn't until years later, after the fall of Jerusalem, that a new name and a new form of celebrating (called Easter) began.

If we're talking Passover...

What would be wrong with this picture, if we are talking about Passover? Most seders would have unleavened bread instead of the puffy communion type. For all other times of the year, this would be a beautiful picture of the sustenance that Yeshua brings us.

Is it appropriate to celebrate communion with leavened bread?

I think so. It is just that Passover and the feast of Unleavened Bread are times when we remember the leaven as a symbol of sin as well as the hypocrisy of the Pharisees (which is sin, of course).

Passover is coming.

Passover is April 20th, with Unleavened Bread following for seven days. That means it begins the evening of the 19th. We will celebrate with a fairly traditional seder at One In Messiah Congregation. Check back for the dates and times. If you have any questions, email me at me@paulbass.net.

Often there is a little bickering of sorts, regarding the proper dates of Passover. This happened in Yeshua's time. It happens today. It is not necessary to squabble over these things. It is important to search the scriptures and to be fully convinced in one's own mind. Our God is not the author of confusion. Here is a video from Zach Bauer regarding the date for Passover in 2019.
